Food Safety

N2O Companies (Northwestern Foods, Inc., Northern Ingredients, and Oziama) has a strong commitment to food safety and to building a food safety culture with all our employees, vendors and customers. We are FSMA compliant, with a Food Safety Plan and prerequisite programs. We have a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) compliant Food Safety Management System and hold a certificate to current BRC Global Standards. We are audited by the American Institute of Baking (AIB) on a annual basis to demonstrate food safety compliance.

  • Allergen Control Program
  • Supply Chain Approval Program
  • Sanitation Control Program, including Environmental Monitoring
  • Trained Preventive Control Qualified Individuals on staff
  • Foreign material detection and screening
  • Sample retention for shelf life of product
  • Monthly internal facility audits
  • Recall Program with Traceability processes for ingredients, packaging materials and finished goods
  • Use of ISO 17025 certified laboratories for biological and analytical testing of products.

In addition to our BRC current Global Standards Certification, N2O Companies is certified by the GFCO to produce Gluten-Free Certified Products, the Orthodox Union and Circle K to produce Kosher products and by Islamic Services of America & Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America to produce Halal products.
